In Bloom

DSC_7729DSC_7706DSC_7721DSC_7771DSC_7746DSC_7775DSC_7798DSC_7783DSC_7714DSC_7801

Welcome to Fake Monday, everyone. Even though today is Tuesday, UMass decided it’s a Monday: I have Monday classes and a Monday work schedule. To really hammer the idea home, my blog post is coming to you all today as well. Even though I really appreciated sitting in the eighty degree sun while sipping my mimosa on Sunday, I do still like the middle of the range weather we have today. It’s more spring. As long as the snow is gone for the year and I won’t get simultaneously blown away and frozen to death when walking by the library, I can wait for the very hot weather. Plus, I always enjoy a good layering piece: today it’s my new silk bomber. It’s light and cropped and the puffy sleeves give it dimension.  I didn’t know what I wanted to pair it with so I popped into Primark recently in search of a striped jumpsuit. Now, usually when I go into a store with a specific item in mind, it usually doesn’t materialize and I leave disappointed and wondering if I should have been a designer, or at least learnt to sew my own clothes. But not this time! This navy and white beauty was there for me and happened to fit perfectly.

It brings me to another point I wanted to touch on: the importance of mixing high street and designer pieces. This jumpsuit from Primark was $14, but my shoes are Michael Kors and ran around $200. While I don’t remembered exactly what I paid for them, I can tell you it was more than $14. I’ve had this jumpsuit for a few days and I’ve had these shoes for four years. They balance each other out perfectly. I firmly believe that this jumpsuit absolutely does not look cheap when paired correctly. Splurging every now and then on more expensive pieces that are versatile will help spruce up a wardrobe, and instead of making everything else pale in comparison, heightens the look of other pieces. Evidence above.

Fashion moves at an incredible pace these days and the availability of high street tempts us to want everything now, now, now. But taking the time, and money, to purchase higher quality pieces — even if it’s once a year or less — will help you create a more lasting wardrobe and crafted style.

Spring Fish

DSC_7434DSC_7454DSC_7441DSC_7487DSC_7513DSC_7534DSC_7544DSC_7479

Happy Monday! It’s finally a morning where it’s feeling like spring. This oversized striped shirt is the perfect pick for an airy spring day. The colors are light and bright and fit right in with the weather. They are contrasted really well with the black overalls, making the colors all the more vibrant. I like the look of an oversized shirt/top tucked into the overalls because it looks effortless, trois fois rien. The backless loafers are also a great pick for spring because they are a good shoe for being out and about in, without feeling like your poor feet will get gross and dirty or look too informal.

Millennial Pink

DSC_7558DSC_7597DSC_7581DSC_7650DSC_7653DSC_7673DSC_7679

I have to admit I didn’t realize my love for pink (that developed over the last year) was linked to my being a millennial. Not until a barrage of editorial articles written by people of the previous generation did I realize they were noticing and questioning it. To be honest, yeah I do love wearing this color. I’ve been wearing this sweater in particular non-stop since picking it up in the Oxford Circus Topshop and will probably continue to wear it until the mornings and evenings stop being so darn cold.

As a group, we millennials are a pretty anxious bunch. In fact, we’re the most anxious of them all. For some odd reason I find the Millennial pink palette rather calming, and perhaps others of my set do as well. Maybe that’s why we’ve all attached ourselves to it: we’re all just trying to radiate some bits of calm in the form of pink clothing. Works for me, anyway.

Pop of Color | What have I been up to?

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all enjoyed waking up after staying up until midnight to see La La Land win everything (except best picture). I’ve been working on another project these last two weeks, but I’m glad to be back and posting for you all. After the insane spring weather we’ve been having, I’m really pumped for spring. That’s why I added this pop of color to my last “winter” outfit for this season. I’m really digging the wide sleeves on this sweater and the fine knit makes it super comfortable. AND I’m definitely going to carry on wearing fringe jeans into spring, they are so fun and really chic. I snagged these boots in a really great Topshop sale and I would like to thank whoever shouted “YOUR SHOES ARE LIT” from their balcony this weekend.

I mentioned earlier that I’d had another project going on and I wanted to tell you all about it! I started a youtube channel! I really wanted to start sharing more content with you all, and I needed another medium for it. This will still be my main area for fashion, but I’m going to be covering beauty, lifestyle and other things on youtube. You can find me here (and you should subscribe!).

New Year’s Resolutions

img_1836img_1851img_1855img_1885img_1897img_1924img_1981img_2020img_2032img_2044

Happy New Year, everyone! Welcome to the first blog post of 2017! *cheers* I’m really excited for what’s to come on the blog this year and for you to see it all. I hope you all had a lovely holiday season and are already back on the grind that the new year inevitably brings to us all (even if just for the first few minutes). I was on a mini holiday NYE weekend and I am now jumping right back into work. I wanted to bring you this chilly-weather number because it’s sleek, cozy and not too complicated. The basic knit dress is an absolute staple and I prefer this midi length because I think it looks even chicer and keeps me just a tad warmer. I paired it with sneakers in honor of my giant campus and my dad who got these beauties for me for Christmas (thanks, Dad!). I love dresses paired with sneakers and hey – who doesn’t love an easy walking shoe that isn’t a Shape Up? The faux fur scarf is super warm and doesn’t need to be wrapped around to do it’s job. I was however thinking of modifying it a bit by stitching on a loop and button where the colors meet to make it a little warmer, what do you think?

I thought I’d share my New Year’s Resolutions with you as well and maybe give you some inspiration for this new year and all it’s opportunities. Mine include wearing more faux fur (good start, I think); drinking more water and getting back into workouts I love like kickboxing and yoga (isn’t that everyone’s? I thought making it more specific would help me out); and providing more and diverse content to the blog! Let me know what yours are, and what you think of mine. I love hearing from you guys and I can’t wait to see what 2017 will hold. Thank you all so much for your support, I love you all.

Skinny Overalls and Statement Sleeves

Happy Monday, everyone. I hope the beginning of November has been good for everyone! I for one took advantage of the post-midterm lull to get ahead on some work, since I fly to London in less than two weeks! I know, I can’t believe how fast the last five months has gone and that I haven’t been in London since June. I can’t wait to be back there for a number of reasons, and one of them might be the shopping – there may be a Topshop haul in our future.

Oddly enough, today’s outfit features a British shopping site that I really love. Boohoo is always a guarantee for really low prices and surprisingly good quality, I’ve never had a bad purchase from them. The overalls and boots I’m wearing today are theirs and I was shocked at how comfortable these ankle boots are. Considering how much I walk in a day, these boots never faltered once. I paired these skinny overalls with an oversized sweater with really cool bucket sleeves. I’m all for any statement sleeves right now and this Zara number is a perfect twist on a casual piece.

Halloweekend

img_0557img_0572img_0574Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Happy Halloween, everyone! I hope you all had great weekends and are still alive for the actual day of Halloween. I had a lot ton of fun this weekend, mostly due to my friends and my awesome purple faux fur coat. The first night, if you didn’t know, I was Chanel from Fox’s Scream Queens. The second night, my friends and I were the now pretty typical aliens, only we went for intergalactic instead of silver and green. I have to say the antennae were pretty fun, even if it startled us every now and then when one would clunk us on the head (those were homemade). Instead of going out the second night, we decided to bake brownies and watch halloween specials of The Office and my personal favorite That 70’s Show. I prefer funny to scary.

SO if you’re a traditionalist, today is the day to buy yourself a mixed bag of fun size candy, eat the whole thing, and fall asleep in front of Hocus Pocus. And that, I think, is the true beauty of Halloween.
